An NHRIs symposium held on the side-lines of COP26 from 3 - 5 November 2021 aims at providing a greater understanding of the climate regime to facilitate NHRI work to promote and support human rights within climate policy and climate accountability. The event will also be an occasion for NHRIs to discuss and consult on the monitoring and reporting tool on climate change and human rights, which is currently developed by GANHRI.

El Síndic reclama con urgencia actuaciones para paliar la falta de plazas residenciales para niños con discapacidad
Durante los últimos años el Síndic ha recibido quejas ante la lista de espera de asignación de una plaza en un recurso residencial para jóvenes menores de 18 años con discapacidad. Con el análisis de los casos concretos estudiados, el Síndic ha podido constatar que la lista de espera para acceder a esta tipología de recurso avanza muy lentamente así como una falta de plazas suficientes de este tipo de dotación.

PDH recibe denuncia en casos de criminalización a familias indígenas
El 20 de septiembre, el personal de la Auxiliatura de Quiché, de la Procuraduría de los Derechos Humanos (PDH), recibió una denuncia presentada por representantes del Comité Campesino del Altiplano (CCA), en casos de criminalización que sufren las familias indígenas de las comunidades de Pomarrosal, Granada Uno y Tierra Linda, de la Zona Reyna, departamento de Quiché, por la disputa de tierras.

Outgoing Ombudsman calls for review of Ombudsman Act
Outgoing Ombudsman Peter Tyndall has called for a review of the Ombudsman Act. Speaking today [30 September 2021] at the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Petitions, the Ombudsman said that the legislation, which dates back to 1980, should be replaced with a more modern, fit for purpose alternative, in line with the United Nations endorsed Venice Principles - the global standard for public service Ombudsman institutions.

Fallecimiento de un detenido - tribunal nunca ordenó la internación a un hospital acorde a sus necesidades
En la madrugada de hoy, y aguardando hace tres meses por la resolución judicial que permitiera su internación en una institución médica de tercer nivel (aquellas que se dedican exclusivamente a la rehabilitación de las funciones básicas), falleció un detenido alojado en el CPF II de Marcos Paz, que había sido derivado por un aneurisma a la unidad hospitalaria penitenciaria, y luego de urgencia al Hospital Santojanni, donde sufrió un accidente cerebrovascular.
