El equipo de fallecimientos en prisión del Observatorio de Cárceles Federales publicó un nuevo informe estadístico. Allí se presentan los resultados de la aplicación del Procedimiento para la Investigación y Documentación, ante cada muerte de personas detenidas bajo custodia del Servicio Penitenciario Federal desde el 1° de enero de 2009 hasta el 30 de junio de 2017.

El reconocido politólogo francés, Alain Rouquié, visitó al Defensor del Pueblo de Santa Fe
Ciertamente uno de los más importantes intelectuales contemporáneos en Occidente, Alain Rouquié, sorprendió ayer al pedir visitar la Defensoría del Pueblo en la ciudad de Santa Fe. “Gracias por recibirme y permitirme preguntar acerca de una institución que protege los derechos y sustenta la democracia”, fue la razón que, con humildad, le expuso el pensador francés al Ombudsman provincial, Raúl Lamberto.

La Procuración Penitenciaria remitió un informe de seguimiento al Comité de Derechos Humanos de la ONU
El informe fue elaborado en el marco del seguimiento de las Observaciones Finales del Comité de Derechos Humanos del año 2016 (disponible acá) sobre el quinto informe periódico de Argentina, en particular las observaciones sobre tortura y malos tratos (párr.14) y sobre condiciones de detención (párr. 24). En el transcurso de nueve años se han investigado y documentado 4312 casos de tortura y malos tratos.

Médiateurs et Parlement BENELUX autour des problèmes transfrontaliers
Ce vendredi 20 octobre 2017, le Médiateur, Marc BERTRAND, entouré de ses collègues médiateurs fédéraux, flamand, de la Communauté germanophone et des Pensions, a participé à une rencontre avec le Parlement BENELUX. A cette occasion, le Président, M. André POSTEMA, accompagné de la Vice-Présidente, Mme Maya DETIEGE et de la Secrétaire générale, Mme Christine BOGAERT, ont souhaité cette année encore, inviter les Ombudsmans et Médiateurs pour avoir un échange de vue et un aperçu des problèmes transfrontaliers.

Propone Ombudsman nacional replantear la alerta de violencia de género ante falta de resultados deseables
Luis Raúl González Pérez presentó el diagnóstico de la Comisión Nacional de los Derechos Humanos (CNDH) como integrante de los grupos de trabajo que dan seguimiento a los procedimientos de Alertas de Violencia de Género contra las Mujeres. La CNDH destaca la necesidad de revisar y replantear el mecanismo de alerta de violencia de género contra las mujeres, ya que los resultados que produce no son los deseables.

CNDH reveals lack of legislation to protect human rights defenders
The National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) informed that 22 federal entities have not adopted laws to safeguard the integrity of human rights defenders, meanwhile the remaining 10 entities, have adopted a legislation to protect the persons who perform that activity.

Ombudsman Western Australia releases 2017-18 Annual Report
The Western Australian Ombudsman has tabled his 2017-18 annual report in Parliament. The report outlines the work of the Office for the year. The Office finalised 94% of complaints within 3 months and 100% of the Ombudsman’s recommendations were accepted for the eleventh consecutive year.

In April, the Chief Ombudsman announced investigations into four agencies (the Ministry for Culture and Heritage, the Ministry for the Environment, the Department of Conservation, and Land Information New Zealand) as part of a long-term strategy to raise the quality of official information delivery from the public sector.

CPT publishes report on periodic visit to Croatia
The CPT-report reviews the treatment of persons detained by the police, the situation of prisoners held in three county prisons (ie Zagreb, Split and Osijek) and the Zagreb Prison Hospital, as well as the treatment of juveniles deprived of their liberty under criminal legislation. The situation of involuntary psychiatric patients is examined in the light of the recently adopted mental health legislation at different psychiatric establishments.
