Le 20 mai marque l’anniversaire de la fondation de l’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) en Mauritanie en 1998, initiative novatrice et prometteuse de 18 membres fondateurs. Aujourd’hui, 17 ans plus tard, l’Association compte une cinquantaine de membres répartis dans différents pays d’Afrique, d’Amérique, d’Asie et d’Europe.

Too many people dying without dignity, Ombudsman service report finds
End of life care could be improved for up to 355,000 people a year in England, according to a report published by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. The report highlights tragic cases where people's suffering could have been avoided or lessened with the right care and treatment, as they approached the end of their lives.

Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman visits General Inspection Organization
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the General Inspection Organization (GIO) of Iran and the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman, and also the mission of the GIO to Denmark to enhance and develop bilateral cooperation, a distinguished delegation of the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman came to Iran in May 2015.

On 11 May 2015, the World Bank (WB) and the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) held a very successful 2nd Annual WB/IOI round-table in Washington DC, which focused on “The role of Ombudsman institutions in promoting citizen-centric governance and inclusive institutions”.

Training
The huge success of the training sessions showed that there is a strong demand among member institutions for training activities. The IOI has become highly aware of the necessity of training programmes for its members and is planning to offer additional training courses focusing on areas that are of specific concern to ombudsman institutions and taking into account regional topics of specific interest.
