The Síndic de Greuges de Catalunya (Catalan Ombudsman) has a new incumbent, Ms. Esther Giménez-Salinas i Colomer. Ms. Giménez-Salinas was elected by the Catalan Parliament on 30 June and took office on 14 July 2022.

2022-09-28Ombudsman publishes Annual Report
The South Australian Ombudsman’s 2021-22 Annual Report was tabled in parliament on 27 september 2022. The Ombudsman, Mr Wayne Lines, reported that for the first time in the office’s history, his office received over 5,000 complaints about state and local government, of which 4,948 were responded to during 2021-22.

2025-07-24Ombudsman tables Special Report on Marine and Ports
Michael DeSilva, the Ombudsman for Bermuda, has submitted a Special Report to the Speaker of the House of Assembly. The report, entitled "Between a Dock and a Hard Place: An Investigation into Marine and Ports' Failure to Implement a Planning Condition for a Mooring Registration", follows an investigation into a complaint made by the children of a local fisherman who had moored his boat in a cove for over six decades. The report concerns the Department of Marine and Ports Services' failure to implement key recommendations addressing a decades-long administrative error that has left a local fishing family without access to their mooring.

2022-02-02Commissioner Stylianou - Lottides submits Annual Reports 2020 to the President of the Republic of Cyprus
On 20 January 2022, the Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights, Mrs. Maria Stylianou - Lottides, submitted the Annual Report of her Office for the year 2020, as well as the individual Annual Reports detailing the work and action of the Office under the other mandates of the Commissioner, to Mr. Nicos Anastasiadis, President of the Republic of Cyprus.

2025-07-04Inspector's report on men's rural prison released
On 19 June, the Palen Creen Correctional Centre inspection report was tabled in parliament. The report was prepared by the Queensland Ombudsman, Anthony Reilly, who is also the Inspector of Detention Services. The report makes 27 recommendations for areas of improvement for the men’s rural prison.

2021-12-09Public Defender of Georgia Becomes Member of IOI Board of Directors
We are pleased to announce that on November 15, 2021, the Public Defender of Georgia, for the first time in the history of the Public Defender’s Office, has started fulfilling the duties of a member of the Board of Directors of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). The Public Defender’s Office will represent the European region in the Board. The Office was elected a member of the European region in 2019. The Board of Directors oversees the organization's activities and makes decisions about its future activities.

The Commonwealth Ombudsman, Mr Iain Anderson, published a report, Did They Do What They Said They Would? volume 2, on 17 October 2022. The report contains point-in-time assessments that measure the progress made by 8 agencies to implement 73 accepted recommendations made by the Office in 10 reports between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2021.

The Angolan Ombudsman, Ms. Antónia Florbela Rocha Araújo, at the invitation of the South African Military Ombudsman, Lt Gen (Ret) Vusi Masondo, attended the annual symposium marking the 10th Year Anniversary since the establishment of the South African Military Ombudsman Office, under the theme: "The Role of the Ombudsman in the Oversight Within the Civil Military Architecture: Threats, Resilience, Responsiveness and Future Implications".
