La révision du statut va permettre de renforcer la base juridique du Médiateur, introduire des garanties supplémentaires pour assurer son indépendance, y compris un budget approprié pour soutenir les activités du bureau.

It is with great sorrow that the International Ombudsman Institute has learned that Roy Gregory, Emeritus Professor of Politics, died in London on 14 July 2015. In his scholarly work Prof. Gregory made a significant contribution to promoting and developing the concept of Ombudship. The IOI is therefore pleased to share with you a tribute written by his longtime colleague at the University of Reading, Dr. Philip Giddings.

La Défenseure des droits, Claire Hédon, et le président du Comité consultatif national d’éthique, le Professeur Jean-François Delfraissy se sont rendus le 3 juin auprès de personnes exilées et sans abri vivant dans des squats ou campements de fortune en Île de France. Pour aller au plus près de cette réalité, la Défenseure des droits et le président du CCNE ont pris part à une maraude à Bobigny et sur l’Île Saint Denis et ont participé à une distribution alimentaire à la Porte de la Villette. Un temps d’échange a également eu lieu avec les associations œuvrant auprès de ces personnes.

Fernández Marugán ha querido conocer de primera mano la situación en ambas ciudades tras la entrada a nado en Ceuta de numerosas personas extranjeras la semana del 17 de mayo. Al Defensor le preocupa especialmente la acogida de los menores extranjeros no acompañados.

Handing over procedure of responsibilities between former Ombudsman Mr Sami Kurteshi and newly elected Ombudsman, Mr Hilmi Jashari, took place on 6 July 2015. After the formal ceremony organized on this occasion within the Ombudsman Institution’s Headquarter, Mr Jashari and Mr Kurteshi addressed to the media with their statements.

This report list the risks (ill-treatment of clients) posed by facilities providing care without authorisation (the “unregistered residential social services facilities”) and explain why good co-operation among all governmental authorities is necessary to penalise these facilities.

The Bahrain Ombudsman, the first Independent Ombudsman in the Region, presented his second Annual Report. In the period from 1 May 2014 to 30 April 2015, the Office received 908 complaints and requests for assistance. This is an increase of 375% compared with the previous year's total of 242.
