2024-06-28Ombudsperson report calls on BC government to address systemic mismanagement in temporary assignment hirings
Awarding temporary public service jobs to 64 ineligible people over a 10-year period represents systemic mismanagement and wrongdoing by BC’s Public Service Agency, Ombudsperson Jay Chalke said on 24 June 2024. In a public report delivered under the Public Interest Disclosure Act, BC’s whistleblowing legislation, Chalke said his office’s investigation showed this practice had a variety of negative effects.

Dr. Marcin Wiącek, who was elected as the new Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Poland on 23 July 2021, took office. He succeeds Mr Adam Bodnar, who completed his term of office earlier this year.

Du 18 au 23 août 2021, le Comité des droits des personnes handicapées des Nations-Unies examinera le rapport initial de la France sur la mise en œuvre de la Convention relative aux droits des personnes handicapées (CIDPH). Le Défenseur des droits, a remis dans un rapport parallèle faisant état d’un bilan contrasté de la mise en œuvre de la CIDPH en matière d’effectivité des droits des personnes handicapées.

The Victorian Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the Environment Protection Authority’s (EPA) decisions to approve sites to receive spoil from the West Gate Tunnel Project. The investigation follows community concern about where tonnes of spoil from the West Gate Tunnel Project will be located and complaints made to the Ombudsman’s office about the project.
