Office of The Ombudsman announces results of direct investigation operation into respite services for supporting carers of elderly persons and persons with disabilities
On 9 October 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the respite services for supporting carers of elderly persons and persons with disabilities, with 25 major recommendations for improvement made to the Social Welfare Department (“SWD”).

The Catalan deputy for children, newly elected president of the ENOC Bureau
The Catalan deputy for the defence of children's and adolescents' rights, Aida C. Rodríguez, has been elected president-elect of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) for the 2025/2026 term. The election and assumption of office took place during the 29th General Assembly in Bucharest, Romania. Next year, the deputy will assume the presidency of the Bureau and Catalonia will organise and host the 30th ENOC General Assembly.

NPM's visit to Piran Police Station and Koper Prison in the presence of observers from Italy
Deputy Ombudsman Ivan Šelih, Adviser to the Ombudsman Robert Gačnik, and a representative of the selected NGO PIC Boris Nusdorfer made a regular monitoring visit to the detention premises of the Piran Police Station on Tuesday, 20 June 2017. On Wednesday, 21 June 2017, they also visited the Koper Prison.

The Veterans Ombudsman has posted a status update on all the recommendations made by the Office since its inception. To date, it has made 57 recommendations and, of these, the Government has fully or partially implemented 37, leaving 20 still to be addressed.
