On 31 October 2025, Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dubé marked his office’s 50th anniversary by thanking his team and predecessors for their role in establishing an “essential democratic institution” that has helped improve public services for millions of Ontarians.

Renforcer la contribution institutionnelle des Médiateurs francophones à l’Examen Périodique Universel : une formation à Rabat
Du 21 au 23 octobre 2025, l’AOMF a organisé à Rabat, au Maroc, une formation consacrée au thème « Vers une contribution institutionnelle du Médiateur à l’Examen Périodique Universel (EPU) ». Cette rencontre, destinée à renforcer le rôle des Médiateurs dans le système onusien de protection des droits de l’Homme, a été rendue possible grâce à l’accueil et à l’engagement logistique de l’Institution du Médiateur du Royaume du Maroc, membre de l’AOMF, qui a une nouvelle fois témoigné son attachement aux travaux de l’association. La réussite de cette rencontre est également le fruit du soutien de l’Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), présente à l’événement.

Capacity Building through FOSPAH Collaboration
The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has always placed great emphasis on creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful workplace environment across its offices. In line with this commitment, a series of training sessions were organized in collaboration with the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection against Harassment (FOSPAH) under the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, 2010.

On 29 October 2025, IOI Secretary General Bernhard Achitz welcomed the recently elected Regional Director for the IOI’s Caribbean and Latin American Region and Ombudsman of Panama, Mr Eduardo Leblanc Gonzalez, to Vienna. Goal of this meeting was to exchange experiences and find best practices with colleagues from all around the world.

Delegación del Yuan de Control asiste a la XXX Asamblea y XXIX Congreso de la Federación Iberoamericana del Ombudsperson
Tras haber sido admitido como miembro extrarregional de la Federación Iberoamericana del Ombudsperson (FIO) durante la 28.ª Asamblea General celebrada el año pasado en Asunción, Paraguay, el Yuan de Control organizó este año (2025) una delegación para asistir al 29.ª Asamblea General y el 30.º Congreso de la FIO, celebrado en Perú. El tema del congreso de este año, que llevó por lema “Un Estado fuerte nace de una sociedad con derechos”, se desarrolló del 6 al 11 de octubre en las ciudades peruanas de Cusco y Lima.

NPM Workshop in Oslo
The IOI is pleased to continue the successful training series for Ombudsman with NPM mandate. The next NPM training will be hosted by the Office of the Parliamentary Ombud of Norway and held in Oslo from 9 – 11 February 2026. It will be delivered by the APT and deal with preventive monitoring in mental health institutions, as well as creating change for NPMs who have been monitoring for years.
