The amount of 9 locals - who reside at moo 9 and moo 20, Muang Kao sub-district, Prachin Buri province - had submitted an appeal to the Ombudsman to find facts on the actions of the Provincial Electricity Authority - Kabin Buri Office and of the Muang Kao Sub-district Administrative Office about not expanding the electricity distribution area which has had an impact on them for more than 50-years.

Asumieron las nuevas autoridades de la Defensoría
En un acto realizado el pasado 15 de marzo Alejandro Amor asumió su segundo mandato como Defensor del Pueblo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. También tomaron posesión de su cargo como Defensores del Pueblo adjuntos Bárbara Bonelli, Silke Mayra Arndt, Paula Andrea Streger, Carlos Palmiotti y Arturo Pozzali. Los seis estarán al frente de la institución durante el período 2019-2024.

On 1 April 2019 Ms Winnie Chiu Wai-yin has taken office as the new Ombudsman of Hong Kong. Ms Chiu follows former Hong Kong Ombudsman Connie Lau, who completed her term on 31 March 2019.

Avoidable eye removal surgery after failure to treat infection
A man lost his eye due to NHS failures in treating an eye infection, causing him significant distress and leaving him unable to work or drive. An investigation by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has found that the failure to diagnose and treat the complainant’s eye infection correctly, meant that it became untreatable and, as a result, he had to have one eye surgically removed.

Control Yuan presses MOTC and MOI to review taxi driver license regulations
The Control Yuan (CY) carried out an investigation after receiving a complaint by a citizen claiming he was being deprived of his right to work by being prohibited for life from holding a taxi driver’s license due to a conviction for attempted murder, despite having already served his prison sentence. The right to work is the right of each citizen to earn a living to survive and should be protected by the government.

Los miembros del Yuan de Control (YC) prestando atención a la seguridad de los conductores mayores, llevó a cabo una investigación en la que descubrió que el proyecto de atención a los conductores mayores, elaborado por el Ministerio de Transporte y Comunicaciones, solamente se aplicaba a aquellas personas que cambiaban la licencia de conducir con 75 años.

Le 20 mars 2019, comme chaque année, 300 millions de francophones répartis sur les 5 continents fêtent leur langue en partage et leur diversité, à l’occasion de la Journée internationale de la Francophonie. L’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) est l’un des réseaux institutionnels membre de l’OIF. Elle a fêté ses 20 ans d’existence le 20 mai 2018.

Age discrimination at work
The Defender inquired into a complaint where the complainant alleged that his employer was discriminating against employees because of their age. Allegedly, employees over 65 years of age were being offered less favourable contracts as concerned their term, number of working hours and sources of funding.

El 13 de abril 2023 el Defensor del Pueblo andaluz, Jesús Maeztu, ha alertado del impacto en la salud mental en dos sectores de población muy vulnerables, las personas mayores y la infancia y la adolescencia, para quienes ha reclamado no solo cuidado y cariño en los entornos familiares, sino medidas de prevención, detección y un incremento de profesionales en salud mental, entre otras cuestiones.
