Québec Ombudsperson Marie Rinfret released her findings on how the COVID-19 crisis in residential and long-term care centres (CHSLDs) was handled during the first wave of the pandemic on November 23, 2021. In her special report tabled in the National Assembly, she made 27 recommendations to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and to the Minister aimed at implementing far-reaching measures to act on the causes of the crisis and to improve residents’ living conditions.

2021-11-19Appointment of the new Thai Ombudsman
On 7 November 2021, the Royal Proclamation announced the appointment of Mr. Songsak Saicheua as the Ombudsman of Thailand in replacement of Mr. Boon Tapanadul who vacated his seat. Mr. Songsak Saicheua will serve a seven-year term from the date of appointment according to section 17 of the Organic Act on Ombudsmen B.E. 2560 (2017) .

En estas cuatro décadas de historia, la Institución ha tramitado 999.358 quejas, ha formulado a las Administraciones 25.376 resoluciones y ha interpuesto 31 recursos de inconstitucionalidad y 11 recursos de amparo ante el Tribunal Constitucional.

Le Médiateur des Services Publics d'Irlande du Nord et le Professeur Chris Gill (Université de Glasgow) mènent un projet de recherche commun examinant le rôle des médiateurs dans la protection des réfugiés et des demandeurs d'asile (le projet OPRAS). L'enquête correspondante, dont l'objectif est de comprendre le travail des médiateurs dans ce domaine et d'identifier les bonnes pratiques, est encore ouverte jusqu'au 27 septembre 2024. The Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman) published a Guide of Prisoner’s First Contact in English and in Greek. This publication was prepared by the Ombudsman in cooperation with lawyers of the Association of the Protection of the Rights of Prisoners & Ex-Prisoners and it takes in consideration the real experiences gained from persons who remained in custody either as detainees pending trial or convicts in the Central Prisons of the Republic of Cyprus.
