Protection of child victims of human trafficking is in the focus of the Protector of Citizens
The Deputy Protector of Citizens for Children's Rights, Jelena Stojanović, said today that this institution, in carrying out the tasks of the National Rapporteur in the field of trafficking in human beings, a new competence given by the new Law on the Protector of Citizens from November 2021, will pay special attention to child victims of trafficking in human beings.

UN Resolution underlines important role of Ombudsman in achieving the SDGs
On 17 December 2024, the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution on The role of Ombudsman and mediator institutions in the promotion and protection of human rights, good governance and the rule of law. This resolution is submitted biennially and the newly adopted version acknowledges the important contribution Ombudsman institutions make to ensure the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 16 on building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Ombudsman Newsletter Issue 15 now available
The Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman) has recently published its 15th issue of the Ombudsman Newsletter (October - December 2024). This newsletter's main topics are, amongst others, an introduction to the third cohort of commissioners that took office on 9 December 2024, the Commission being named as the Best Public Sector Legal Department of 2024 at the 7th Annual Gala and Award Ceremony of the Nairobi Legal Awards as well as a training for Civil Society Organizations including the dissemination of a Public Inquiry Report on the challenges citizens face when obtaining legal identity documents.

NSW Ombudsman Annual Report and summary of investigations report tabled in Parliament
The NSW Ombudsman’s Office Annual Report: 2021-22 has been tabled in Parliament. The report provides insight to the 24,874 contacts received by the office in the financial year to 30 June 2022. These included 12,363 actionable complaints, which highlight the diversity of issues raised by NSW citizens accessing services from NSW Government agencies, local councils and certain community-service providers.
