Records containing personal data abandoned at George Town landfill
Recently a member of the public discovered a significant number of abandoned documents at the George Town landfill, some containing sensitive personal information. The individual brought a sample of the records to the Office of the Ombudsman for further examination.

First Remote Media Training held
On 19 November 2020, the IOI successfully held its first session of the IOI Remote Media Training. The interest in this training was enormous and participants from all six IOI world regions applied. In this first training session, a total of 18 persons from 18 different Ombudsman institutions from all corners of the globe took part in this high-end media training.

Ombudsman supports request of transferral of LGBTI person convicted abroad
In a recent report Commissioner for Administration and Protection of Human Rights (Ombudsman), Maria Stylianou-Lottides, has urged the Justice Ministry to look into speeding up actions to support a transfer request from a member of the LGBTI community to serve out the remainder of their prison term in Nicosia prisons.

Human rights education starts with training of teachers
National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chair Chu CHEN and Control Yuan (CY) members made a visit to the National Academy for Educational Research on 23 November 2020. The delegation discussed human rights education with deputy education minister Ching-Hwa TSAI and officials and researchers from the Department of Special Education, K-12 Education Administration, and National Academy for Educational Research.

2019 Report on NPM Acitvities
The Report on the Performance of the NPM for 2019 contains an overview and analysis of the state of human rights of persons deprived of liberty and with restricted freedom of movement. During the reporting year the Croatian People's Ombudswoman acted in a total of 203 cases, issuing 35 warnings, recommendations and suggestions.
