International Women’s Day 2021: making justice fair, accessible and safer for women
For the first time, 41 oversight bodies from across the globe joined with the APT on International Women’s Day to call for sustained government action to protect the rights of women in prison. The historic statement coordinated by the APT – the first time such a broad range of national and local oversight bodies have come together on this issue – addresses the risks of discrimination, abuse and ill-treatment faced by women in prison worldwide.

Commissioner for Fundamental Rights conducts on-site inspection at Kalocsa children’s home
Based on the information that appeared in the press, as well as warnings from some of the MPs, with regard to the gravity of the concerns, Ombudsman Dr Ákos Kozma launched an ex officio inquiry into the operation of the Kalocsa Children’s Home, Primary School and Vocational School of the Special Children’s Home Centre, Primary School and Vocational School of the Ministry of Human Capacities, in order to clarify the circumstances.
