Ombudsman holds first online outreach event
Ombudsman Peter Tyndall and his team held a virtual regional “visit” to the Sligo Roscommon Leitrim area between 4 and 11 September 2020. The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has launched a consultation on a proposed “own initiative” investigation into homelessness in Wales. It will be the first investigation of its kind since the Ombudsman was given new powers via the Public Services Ombudsman (Wales) Act 2019.

Public awareness of Ombudsman service at record high
Public awareness of the service provided by the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has increased to its highest ever level, a new national survey has revealed. The Ombudsman, Nick Bennett, said that high visibility was crucial to ensure Welsh public service users knew how and where to complain, and to make sure that lessons were learnt when things went wrong.

During the inspection performed by the Human Rights Division of the Seimas Ombudsmen’s Office, a man with special needs was found illegally imprisoned at Skemai Social Care Home in Rokiškis district, where he spent two weeks behind bars.
