The Human Rights Defender watched the play "Alice in Wonderland" with the students of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak Province
On June 8, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan paid a working visit to Shirak province. A tour was conducted on the premises of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak province SNCO of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, where children in difficult life situations receive care and support. The Defender got acquainted with the children's living conditions, programs aimed at children's development, and inquired about their daily life.

Hospitals, social welfare and education schemes contribute to rise in complaints to the Ombudsman
Nearly 4,500 complaints about public services were made to the Office of the Ombudsman in 2023. Ombudsman, Ger Deering, has seen a 30% rise in the number of complaints to his Office in recent years, from 3,418 in 2020 to 4,465 last year.

UN Resolution underlines important role of Ombudsman in achieving the SDGs
On 17 December 2024, the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution on The role of Ombudsman and mediator institutions in the promotion and protection of human rights, good governance and the rule of law. This resolution is submitted biennially and the newly adopted version acknowledges the important contribution Ombudsman institutions make to ensure the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goal 16 on building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Bilateral arrangement signed with the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia
New Zealand’s Chief Ombudsman and the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia signed the bilateral arrangement in Jakarta on Monday, 24 February 2025.
