Public Protector confers with Muchinga Provincial Administration and Chinsali Mayor
As part of her working visit to Muchinga Province, the Public Protector Mrs. Caroline Sokoni held various engagements with the Provincial and District leadership in Chinsali. During her meeting with the Permanent Secretary at the Provincial Administration on 8 January 2023, Mrs. Sokoni said it was important for her to meet with officials, technocrats and civil servants at all levels to familiarise herself with the challenges affecting public administration and service delivery.

Femicidios en alza durante 2023: 322 casos reportados por la Defensoría del Pueblo de la Nación
El Observatorio de Femicidios de la Defensoría del Pueblo publicó las cifras de los femicidios ocurridos en Argentina desde el 1 de enero al 31 de diciembre de 2023. Se registraron 322 femicidios que incluyen 30 femicidios vinculados, 6 personas trans, 10 suicidios feminicidas y 28 casos de muertes violentas de mujeres en contexto de narcotráfico y crimen organizado.

International Ombudsman Learning Academy launched
A learning initiative to help Ombudsman officers across Europe deliver quality services to the citizen was launched on 16 January 2024 in Manchester, UK. The Learning Academy of the European Chapter of the International Ombudsman Institute will serve as a specialized forum and training center where Ombudsmen and their officers will exchange ideas and practices, and develop new skills and modes of cooperation.

Role of Ombudspersons in advancing the rights of older persons
The Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel presents the findings of an international survey conducted in 2022, in which 55 Ombudsinstitutions from around the world participated. The survey addressed a number of issues, including the difficulties encountered by older persons in using the digital services provided by Ombudsinstitutions and the barriers preventing older persons from filing complaints.

El Departamiento de Derechos Sociales de la Generalitat asume el compromiso con la síndica de mejorar el alcance de la renta garantizada de ciudadanía (RGC) entre las personas más desfavorecidas. La sindicatura había alertado de que muchas de estas personas quedan excluidas por una aplicación incorrecta del Reglamento de la RGC.

Leadership Retreat in Bogor: Cooperation of the Commissioners of the Indonesian and Dutch National Ombudsman institutions
On 19 and 20 December 2023, the Commissioners of the Ombudsman of Indonesia and the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands met in Bogor, Indonesia, for a leadership retreat. The topics on the agenda of this meeting were the Venice Principles, institutional transformation, and other topics related to the Grand Design of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia for 2025-2045.

La Defensoría del Pueblo brinda experiencias labores para personas con discapacidad
La inclusión laboral y social de personas con discapacidad es un desafío que enfrenta nuestra sociedad. Según datos de la Organización Internacional del Trabajo, en Argentina sólo el 25% de las personas con discapacidad tiene empleo. En este contexto, el Instituto de Inclusión Social de la Defensoría del Pueblo de la Provincia de Córdoba dirigida por Mario Decara, impulsa el Programa de Experiencia Laboral para la Inclusión Social de Personas con Discapacidad en el ámbito público.

El Defensor del Pueblo, Ángel Gabilondo, solicitó el 24 de noviembre de 2023, que se desarrollen las figuras que recoge la Ley de Protección Integral de la Infancia y Adolescencia Frente a la Violencias (LOPIVI), como la del coordinador de bienestar y protección que deben tener todos los centros educativos.
