In a number of case studies the LGO shows some of the common issues it sees in children’s social care complaints, including failure to recognise a children’s service complaint or long delays in the process.

L’enquêteur correctionnel s’inquiète de la multiplication des incidents de recours à la force dans lesquels des agents inflammatoires ont été utilisés
Ottawa, le 31 octobre 2016 – Le 43e Rapport annuel du Bureau de l’enquêteur correctionnel a été déposé aujourd’hui au Parlement. Dans son rapport, l’enquêteur correctionnel du Canada, M. Howard Sapers, signale que le nombre d’incidents de sécurité comportant l’usage d’agents inflammatoires, principalement l’oléorésine de Capsicum (OC), aussi appelée vaporisateur de poivre, a triplé dans les pénitenciers fédéraux depuis 2011-2012.

Expulsion of special education needs student
In March Ombudsman Ron Paterson released an opinion under the Ombudsmen Act about an investigation into a decision by a school Board of Trustees to expel a high school student with Aspergers. Following an incident where the year 11 student had threatened to assault a teacher the Board had expelled him for “gross misconduct” that was “a harmful or dangerous example to other students”.
