A partir de un monitoreo de rutina, integrantes de la PPN tomaron conocimiento de la situación de vulnerabilidad de una joven lactante que permanecía alojada en el Centro de Contraventores de la CABA. Ante esta situación, el organismo se presentó como amicus curiae acompañando la solicitud de prisión domiciliaria realizada por la defensa.

Veterans Ombud Releases Report: Full and Fair Payment of Pain and Suffering Compensation
On 22 March 2024, the Veterans Ombud Colonel (Ret’d) Nishika Jardine released a report on the unfairness inherent in Veterans Affairs Canada’s (VAC) Pain and Suffering Compensation (PSC) benefit. The PSC benefit compensates Veterans for disabilities related to their service. How VAC pays the PSC benefit directly affects what happens to Veterans’ compensation when they die.

La adjunta de Igualdad de la Diputación del Común, Beatriz Barrera, se reunió con representantes de la Asociación por la Defensa de las Pensiones Públicas, quienes denuncian que el sistema de pensiones necesita reformas inmediatas para eliminar la brecha de género existente y piden un complemento autonómico a las pensiones hasta llegar al Salario Mínimo Interprofesional (SMI).

Victorian Ombudsman says it's time to fix social housing complaint system
Nearly two years ago, the Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass tabled an extensive report into Victoria’s social housing complaint system. On 15 March 2024, the Social housing complaint handling – progress report was tabled, a follow-up on the 17 recommendations in the 2022 report. It notes advances in some areas, but also identifies a lack of clear action from the Victorian Government on much-needed major reforms.

Office of The Ombudsman announces results of direct investigation into effectiveness of 1823 in handling complaints and enquiries
On 7 March 2024, the Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced the completion of a direct investigation into the effectiveness of the 1823 service in handling complaints and enquiries, and made 13 recommendations for improvement to the Efficiency Office (“EO”).
