It is with great sadness that the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) has learned of the passing of Maître Alioune Badara Cissé, Ombudsman of Senegal. Mr Cissé died on 28 August 2021 in Dakar at the age of 63. The IOI expresses its heartfelt condolences. Our thoughts go out to Mr Cissé’s family and friends, his colleagues and staff.

La Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos publicó el primer informe de investigación sobre derechos humanos el 14 de julio de 2021. Durante el régimen autoritario, el Gobierno utilizó sanciones administrativas, como las emitidas por vandalismo, para eludir procedimientos judiciales y restringir la libertad personal de los disidentes, algo inconsistente con el sistema legal actual de la justicia transicional, por lo que las víctimas no podían obtener compensación.
