The Justice Appointments Council (JAC) has a key role in the framework of the establishment of new institutions of justice reform and during the last two years it has been a subject of disagreements between various institutions engaged in the implementation of this reform. The published report highlights problems identified by the People’s Advocate Institution in its role as an observer of JAC meetings during 2019.

El Yuan de Control investiga el caso sobre número de bomberos, equipos contra incendios y capacitación de rescate
El número de bomberos en Taiwán es de uno por cada 1.800 - 2.000 habitantes, y la brecha es bastante grande. La falta de bomberos es un problema a largo plazo. El aumento del número de muertes de bomberos durante el desempeño de su trabajo ha revelado muchos problemas ocultos, tales como la escasez de bomberos y equipos, así como la falta de capacitación. Por lo tanto, el Yuan de Control (YC) inició una investigación.

Application of legal standards developed by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia by Courts of Armenia
Since 2016, the Human Rights Defender has started a new practice of developing jurisprudence and legal standards in decisions related to concrete cases. This procedure is based on the same principles as the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Cassation or the Constitutional Court and is an example of how the case law can be developed through the work of the country's legal institutions based on international obligations.

Committee on Human Rights discusses issue of monitoring rights of convicts during a quarantine
At the meeting of the Seimas Committee on Human Rights, the issue of ensuring human rights in the institutions subordinated to the Prison Department during an emergency situation was discussed. During the meeting, Augustinas Normantas, the Head of the Seimas Ombudsmen‘s Office, drew the attention of the participants to the fact that quarantine conditions are currently being mitigated; therefore, it is necessary to talk about quarantine mitigation measures in correctional facilities.
