The special report under section 31 of the Ombudsman Act 1974 is an initiative by the NSW Ombudsman to increase visibility in the use of automated decision-making systems across the NSW public sector.

Les 10° et 11° rapports en commission
Après avoir remis officiellement les rapports annuels 2021 et 2022 aux Présidents des Parlements le 24 janvier dernier, il est de tradition que ces rapports soient examinés par les différentes commissions parlementaires. La Defensoría del Pueblo recomendó reformar los procesos de inclusión y discapacidad en el sistema educativo
Los defensores del Pueblo de Santa Fe a/c, Jorge Henn y Gabriel Savino, recomendaron al ministerio de Educación arbitrar los medios necesarios para iniciar un proceso participativo de revisión normativa de la resolución 1290, que establece los modos de intervención de las escuelas inclusivas, en todos sus niveles, dictada en setiembre de 2023, como asimismo la presentación de una propuesta de reforma.

La DPU lance l'Observatoire de la Violence envers les Femmes
Le jeudi 7 mars, le Bureau Fédéral du Défenseur Public (DPU) a inauguré l'Observatoire de la Violence envers les Femmes. L'Observatoire aura comme objectif de mettre en place des stratégies visant à renforcer les actions de la DPU concernant tous les types de violence, ainsi qu'à promouvoir les droits humains. Des plaintes pourront bientôt y être déposées.

Ombudsman Commission helps secure estate for beneficiaries
On 3 March 2022, the Ombudsman Commission received a Complaint regarding the alleged delay in the transfer of the title for a deceased estate and overcharging of administrative fees by the office of the Public Trustee of Papua New Guinea. It was alleged that the Office of the Public Trustee had charged excessive fees and had delayed the transfer of a title of a deceased estate to the beneficiaries.

Étude déontologie et relations police / gendarmerie – population : la nécessité d’asseoir une confiance réciproque
Le 27 février 2024, le Défenseur des droits a publié les résultats d’une étude menée auprès des policiers et des gendarmes sur leurs attitudes vis-à-vis des relations avec la population, de la déontologie et des instances de contrôle interne et externe. Confiée à des chercheurs du Centre de recherches sociologiques sur le droits et les institutions pénales et du laboratoire Pacte avec le soutien du Défenseur des droits et du Centre de recherche de l’École des officiers de la gendarmerie nationale, cette étude conforte les recommandations portées par la Défenseure des droits.

EU Ombudsman asks Commission to improve approval process for substances in pesticides
The Ombudsman has made three suggestions to the European Commission to improve the process of approving “active substances” – the components in pesticides that act against specific pests or plant diseases – for use in pesticides. The Ombudsman asked the Commission to approve active substances only for uses that have been confirmed as safe by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA); to publish an explanation of its approvals of active substances in language easily understandable to the public; and to use the confirmatory data procedure with particular restraint.

Work irregularities of Zaječar Social Welfare Center in case of child sexual abuse
In an investigation initiated upon learning from the media about the sexual abuse of a child from Zaječar, the Protector of Citizens determined that only after the monitoring by the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy did the Zaječar Social Welfare Center react and place the child in a foster family, which was why disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the expert workers.
