With The OHCHR’s assistance, fifteen national laws were adopted to combat discrimination in all forms.

El pasado día 26 de marzo, el Ararteko cumplió con la obligación legal de entregar su informe anual de actividad al Parlamento Vasco. No obstante, y dada la situación de emergencia de salud pública derivada de la pandemia de coronavirus COVID-19, no ha sido posible su entrega protocolaria a la presidenta de la Cámara ni su presentación ante los medios de comunicación.

Board of Directors adopts resolution on Covid-19
The outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the subsequent rapid development of the pandemic have had a huge impact on all of us, but it has had a disproportionate impact on the most vulnerable in our societies. The Ombudsman’s role is crucial in making sure people have access to the public services they need and that these services are delivered fairly. In a resolution adopted by the IOI Board of Directors on 18 May 2020, the IOI speaks out on this issue and calls on all Ombudsman institutions to redouble their efforts.

La Junta Directiva adopta una resolución sobre Covid-19
El brote de coronavirus (COVID-19) y el veloz desarrollo de la pandemia ha tenido un impacto enorme en todos nosotros, pero ha tenido un impacto desproporcionado en la personas más vulnerables de nuestras sociedades. El papel del Ombudsman es fundamental para asegurar que cada persona pueda ejercer su derecho a acceder a los servicios públicos y para que estos servicios sean prestados de manera justa. En una resolución que la Junta Directiva del IIO adoptó en su reunión anual celebrada el día 18 de mayo de 2020, el IIO habla de este tema y exhorta a todas las instituciones del Ombudsman para que intensifiquen sus esfuerzos .

Conseil d’administration adopte résolution sur Covid-19
L’éruption de la maladie à coronavirus ( COVID 19 ) et l’évolution rapide de la pandémie ont eu un effet énorme sur nous tous, mais l’effet de cette maladie sur les personnes les plus vulnérables de nos sociétés a été disproportionnel.Le rôle de l’Ombudsman est essentiel quand il s’agit de veiller à ce que les gens aient accès aux services publics dont ils ont besoin et que ces services soient fournis équitablement. Dans une résolution adoptée par le Conseil d’administration de l’IIO le 18 mai 2020, l’IIO s’exprime sur cette question et demande à toutes les institutions de l’ombudsman de multiplier leurs efforts.

Own Initiative Intervention regarding women's right related to maternity during the COVID-19 period
In an own-initiative Report dated 8 May 2020, the Cyprus Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights suggested that public and private hospitals with gynecological clinics should allow fathers to be present during childbirth and the birth of their children, provided that each father is successfully subjected to a COVID-19 negative test.

Irish Ombudsman receives highest number of complaints in 10 years
Complaints to the Ombudsman rose by 9% to 3,664 in 2019. It is the highest number of complaints received by the Ombudsman since 2010. Ombudsman Peter Tyndall examines complaints about public services, such as those provided by government departments, local authorities and the HSE.

Oversight of the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 Annual Report 2023–24, tabled in Parliament
The NSW Ombudsman tabled the Oversight of the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 Annual Report 2023–24 in Parliament on 11 December, 2024. The report provides a snapshot of voluntary public interest disclosures made between 1 October 2023, when the Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (PID Act) commenced, and 30 June 2024.
