Too many people dying without dignity, Ombudsman service report finds
End of life care could be improved for up to 355,000 people a year in England, according to a report published by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. The report highlights tragic cases where people's suffering could have been avoided or lessened with the right care and treatment, as they approached the end of their lives.

Lors d’une conférence donnée au Forum des ombudsmans canadiens, le 13 mai, la protectrice du citoyen du Québec, Mme Raymonde Saint-Germain, s’est exprimée sur la question de l’évaluation de la qualité du travail de l’ombudsman et de son impact. Un sujet d’actualité, puisque les ombudsmans, de plus en plus appelés à répondre de leur performance et de leur valeur ajoutée, sont à la recherche de critères et d’indicateurs sur lesquels appuyer objectivement leur évaluation, a-t-elle souligné.

Open letter concerning Mediterranean refugee crisis
The tragic events of the past months where hundreds of people lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea have filled the world with tremendous shock. Behind this humanitarian disaster lies a deep human rights crisis, where migrants try to flee from war or poverty. The IOI therefore calls on its members in an open letter to encourage their respective governments and administrations to join forces to find solutions for this refugee crisis.

17° Anniversaire de l’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie
Le 20 mai marque l’anniversaire de la fondation de l’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) en Mauritanie en 1998, initiative novatrice et prometteuse de 18 membres fondateurs. Aujourd’hui, 17 ans plus tard, l’Association compte une cinquantaine de membres répartis dans différents pays d’Afrique, d’Amérique, d’Asie et d’Europe.
