The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab, in collaboration with the OIC Ombudsman Association (OICOA) Secretariat, successfully conducted an international training session titled "Hearing the Silent Complainant: Reaching the Unheard, Unaware, and Unrepresented." The session focused on strengthening institutional outreach strategies to improve access to grievance redressal services for marginalized, underserved, and remote communities.
The training was delivered by Mr. Ahmad Yar Khan (Advisor Research), Office of the Ombudsman Punjab, who shared the office's experience in developing citizen-centric outreach mechanisms, including best practices for engaging vulnerable populations. The session was presided over by Ms. Ayesha Hamid (Ombudsman Punjab and OICOA Member), who emphasized the Office's commitment to continuous capacity building, staff development, and the adoption of modern approaches to ensure accessible, compassionate, and effective grievance redressal.
The training was attended by 42 participants representing Ombudsman institutions from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Morocco, Côte d'Ivoire, and the Gambia, along with delegates from Pakistan, including the Federal Ombudsman, Federal Tax Ombudsman, Federal Banking Ombudsman, Federal Ombudsperson for Protection against Harassment, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Provincial Ombudsman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and interns from the Federal Tax Ombudsman's Summer 2026 Internship Programme.
During the interactive discussion, the representative from the Office of the Mediator of Morocco shared innovative outreach initiatives adopted by their institution to improve engagement with remote and vulnerable communities, fostering a valuable exchange of international best practices in citizen outreach and administrative justice.
