Justice Dr. Asghar Jahangir
Justice Dr. Asghar Jahangir, a senior and highly experienced judicial official of the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been appointed President of the General Inspection Organization of Iran by decree of the Head of the Judiciary.
He has extensive judicial, managerial, academic, and professional experience and has held a number of senior positions within the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the course of his career.
Justice Dr. Jahangir is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Tehran, where he studied Criminal Law and Criminology. He has also pursued advanced studies in Strategic Management and holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management. He is an academic faculty member with the rank of Assistant Professor.
In addition to his judicial and executive responsibilities, Justice Dr. Jahangir has been actively engaged in academic and scholarly activities. He has participated in numerous scientific and professional conferences, authored academic works, and served as supervisor, advisor, and examiner for a substantial number of university theses and dissertations at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
He has also served as a visiting lecturer at a number of leading universities and academic institutions in Iran, including the University of Judicial Sciences and Administrative Services, Kharazmi University, Shahid Motahari University, and the Supreme National Defense University.
Among the principal judicial and executive positions previously held by Justice Dr. Jahangir are:
- Justice of the Supreme Court
- Acting Head of the Prosecutor’s Office for Government Employees
- Adviser to the Head of the Judiciary
- Head of the Special Inspection Office of the Judiciary
- Head of the Prisons and Security and Corrective Measures Organization
- Deputy for Social Affairs and Crime Prevention of the Judiciary
- pokesman of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran
- and currently, President of the General Inspection Organization of Iran
Justice Dr. Jahangir’s combination of judicial, managerial, and academic experience, together with his extensive background in oversight, crime prevention, public administration, institutional reform, and judicial policy, provides a strong professional foundation for leading the General Inspection Organization in the fulfilment of its statutory and supervisory mandate.
