Mauritius | New Ombudsman took office on 28 August 2026

On 20 August 2026, Mr Raj Kishore Ramsaha was appointed as Ombudsman of the Republic of Mauritius by His Excellency the President. He took the oath before the Supreme Court and assumed duty as Ombudsman on 31 August 2026.

Mr Ramsaha is a Barrister at Law with over 33 years of professional experience in civil, criminal, labour and commercial law. Since being called to the Bar in October 1992, he has appeared before courts of law and Tribunals in multiple jurisdictions and has provided legal representation and consultancy services to a wide portfolio of local and international clients.

He also possesses extensive experience in arbitration, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.  Following his formal appointment as Ombudsman of the Republic of Mauritius, he has fully concluded his private legal practice to dedicate himself exclusively to this independent constitutional mandate.
