Azerbaijan | CoE Lanzarote Convention was ratified by Azerbaijan

The Council of Europe Convention on Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, also known as “the Lanzarote Convention” was ratified by the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan addressed a letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan thanking him for his initiative regarding the ratification.

This year the annual month-long campaign on the rights of the child started in Azerbaijan on the initiative of the Ombudsman and will continue from October 20 to November 20 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of Child (CRC).  The purpose of this campaign is to increase the attention to children and to improve the status of implementation of the rights of the child.

It is also known that the Council of Europe (CoE) marks November 18 as the European day on the Protection of Children from sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. The CoE has called the member states to carry out relevant events, programs and other initiatives.

It should be noted that the issues related to elimination of all forms of violence against children will be discussed in the events within the month-long campaign.
