CuraƧao | Announcement of the Third International Ombud Expo 2027

The Office of the Ombudsman of Curaçao is pleased to announce that the International Ombud Expo 2027 (IOE 2027) will be held at the World Trade Center in Willemstad, Curaçao, from 24 – 28 May 2027.

Now in its third edition, the International Ombud Expo is an event that aims to bring together ombud offices, human rights institutions, integrity and regulatory organizations, grievance handlers, and related oversight and governance institutions from across the world to participate in an exhibition and showcasing of their role, operations, and performance impact. The success of the previous events, records of which are available at: https://gmsiuk.net/ombudsman-and-oversight/, demonstrates the value of this unique opportunity to exchange best practices and strengthen oversight institutions worldwide.

Under the theme ‘Just Society for All: Celebrating Facilitators and Promoters in a Challenging World’, IOE 2027 is expected to host over 300 offices and 2,000 participants from more than 100 countries. It will provide policymakers, practitioners, and scholars with a comprehensive look at diverse approaches to securing a society founded on fairness, equality, and respect.

A highlight of this edition will be the special event: ‘Ombuds for Indigenous Peoples: Celebration of Role and Impact’. This session aims to provide much-needed visibility to the essential work performed by both niche and mainstream institutions in advancing the rights of indigenous peoples; contributions that are vital yet often underrepresented on the global stage.

Beyond the formal sessions, Curaçao offers a vibrant and welcoming environment. As a premier destination in the Caribbean, our island provides an excellent backdrop for professional networking and collaboration. You have my assurance that the organizers, supported by our local and international partners, are dedicated to ensuring you have a productive and memorable experience.
