Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. László Székely has nominated Dr. Erzsébet Szalayné Sándor, habilitated associate professor, former dean of the University of Pécs and director at the National University of Public Service, as his deputy in charge of the protection of the nationalities living in Hungary.

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has presented an opinion on the Framework Decision on Racism and Xenophobia, with special attention to the rights of victims of crime. This analysis was developed in response to the request of the Council of the European Union, Working Party on Fundamental Rights, Citizens’ Rights and Free Movement of Persons (FREMP).

Cayman Islands Complaints Commissioner Nicole Williams reports that, since 2010, a total of 1,144 businesses failed to pay into the private sector retirement system, thus owing a total of 13.7 million Cayman dollars to their current or former workers.

The African Ombudsman Research Centre (AORC) will hold a summit on the framework and standards for the establishment of credible Ombudsman and Mediator offices in Africa. The AORC summit will precede the meeting of the Executive Committee of AOMA and take place from 10 to 11 December 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa.
