The Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, today (May 26) announced at a press conference the completion of a direct investigation into the regulation of paragliding activities by the Civil Aviation Department (“CAD”), and made eight recommendations for improvement to the CAD.

Recently, the Control Yuan (CY) published the 2021 Annual Report. For the whole of 2021, the CY received 14,403 people’s complaints; issued 244 investigation reports; passed 16 impeachment cases and 1 censure case; and proposed 78 corrective measures cases. The Annual Report also includes 6 case summaries, which are categorized into public expenditures, upholding discipline and safeguarding human rights.

It is with great concern that the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) has followed recent developments at the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine that have resulted to the dismissal of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms Liudmyla Denisova.

The Chief Ombudsman, Peter Boshier, was in March elected as Second Vice President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). Mr Boshier has served on the board of the IOI, a global organisation made up of more than 200 independent ombudsman institutions from more than 100 countries, since 2016. The Ombudsman New Zealand has been a part of the IOI since its inception in 1978.

The Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand stipulates that the State shall ensure that every child receives quality education for twelve years from pre-school to the completion of compulsory education free of charge. The State shall ensure that young children receive care and development prior to education to develop their physical body, mind, discipline, emotion, society and intelligence.
