PAKISTAN | Student Ambassador Programme of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab

Under the leadership of Ms. Ayesha Hamid, Ombudsman Punjab and First Vice President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab launched the Student Ambassador Programme to strengthen youth engagement and public awareness regarding administrative justice and citizens’ rights. The programme was inaugurated on 11 and 13 February 2026 at the Regional Office Multan, bringing together university students to serve as ambassadors of awareness within their academic institutions and communities.

The Programme aims to promote awareness of the Ombudsman’s mandate and complaint redressal mechanism through a network of trained student ambassadors to facilitate lawful grievance reporting within their educational institutions and communities.

The sessions included participation of first-year students from five government colleges. The training covered the jurisdiction, functions, and procedures of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab. Eligibility criteria for complaints, identification of admissible cases, and the ethical responsibilities associated with the ambassadorial role were also highlighted.

Moving forward, the participants are expected to disseminate awareness in their institution and community, while acting as a liaison with the Ombudsman Office. Advisor Multan-I, Mr. Mahmood Javed Bhatti, Advisor Multan-II, Mr. Waqar Hussain, and Deputy Director, Mr. Muhammad Saleem represented the Ombudsman Office and provided practical insights through presentation of success stories.
