Poland | Situation of stateless persons

The Human Rights Defender has pointed to the complicated situation of stateless people. Prof. Lipowicz has indicated that currently binding regulations concerning, inter alia, acquiring the refugee status and enabling the legalization of the stay in Poland are not adapted to the problems which the refugees currently face. The Human Rights Defender has reminded that Poland, as one of few European states, did not ratify international conventions concerning statelessness. The Ombudsman asked the Minister of the Interior to present her opinion on that issue. For further details please refer to: k.miksa@brpo.gov.pl.
