BackThe Provincial Ombudsman initiated action on behalf of the complainant, as the Executive Engineer of the District Municipal Corporation, Karachi East had refused to provide information, though the complainant was entitled to get the same under the Freedom of Information Act, 2006.
Being the custodian of public interests, Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik issued directives to authorities of the District Municipal Corporation of Karachi to investigate the cause of delay. The Investigation in the matter revealed that department was delaying the matter on flimsy grounds, this attitude caused hardship and inconvenience to the complainant.
Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik issued directives to the Municipal authorities to furnish required information forthwith as per Freedom of Information Act 2006. The order of the Honourable Ombudsman was complied with and the required information was provided to the complainant. The complainant expressed her satisfaction on the steps taken by this institution.
