Serbia | Ombudsman Janković resigns to run for presidential elections

Saša Janković, Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Serbia, resigned last months. His decision to resign six months before the end of his second term is based on the fact that he will run for the presidential elections in April 2017.

Until a new Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman) is elected by the National Parliament, Mr. Milos Jankovic, Deputy Protector of Citizens, will serve as Acting Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman).

Saša Janković served as the first ever Ombudsman of the Republic of Serbia and held the office since 2007 and was re-elected for a second five-year term in 2012.
