CANADA | Manitoba Ombudsman Charlene Paquin resigns

Manitoba Ombudsman Charlene Paquin resigned from the office to take a position as head of the Manitoba Civil Service Commission. Ms Paquin was appointed Ombudsman in May 2015 and leaves the office in her first term of service.

Marc Cormier was appointed acting ombudsman on 31 July 2018. Since joining the office of the Manitoba Ombudsman in 2012, Mr Cormier has held the positions of manager, PIDA investigations and deputy Ombudsman.

Prior to 2012, he spent 18 years as a commissioned officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, which included experience with administrative investigations, alternative dispute resolution and rights-based complaints, such as grievance investigations.

Mr Cormier also taught investigation techniques as the subject matter expert on the military grievance system.
