Nigeria | Appointment of new Chief Commissioner (Ombudsman)

Mr Chille Igbawua is a lawyer, technocrat administrator and parliamentarian. He holds a Master’s degree in law with bias constitutional law (LLM) and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personal Administrators of London and Wales (FCIPA).

Hon. Igbawua has attended several institutions in Nigeria and abroad, including but not limited to, the University of Uyo and Jos, Benue State University and several others abroad in the UK, the United States of America, Israel and Malaysia.

He had a meritorious career in the civil service of the State Civil Service Capping as Director Administrator and Finance in the Ministry of Justice and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning (being the first and only lawyer to date to serve in that portfolio).

Mr Igbawua retired from the service for politics. He successfully contested and was elected as Hon. Member of the House of Representatives where he proved an astute and outstanding parliamentarian from 2007 – 2011.

Well respected in the National Legislature, Mr Igbawua served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Special Advisor on Legal and Legislative Matters to the Rt. Hon. Speaker Amin Waziri Tambuwal from 2011 – 2015. Until his appointment as the Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission, he was the Special Advisor on Legal and Legislative Matters to the Rt. Hon. Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

Mr Chille Igbawua has been appointed as the new Chief Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (Ombudsman) of Nigeria for the next three years.
