Newly adopted UN Resolution further strengthens Ombudsman institutions worldwide
On 15 December 2022, the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution on the role of Ombudsman and mediator institutions in the promotion and protection of human rights, good governance and the rule of law. This new version of the Resolution draws attention to Ombudsman institutions’ NPM mandate, Ombudsman under threat, the Venice Principles as well as the IOI’s important role as a platform for best practice sharing between Ombudsman offices.

New ENNHRI Chair elected
The European Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) held its General Assembly Meeting and Annual Conference in Athens from the 24th to the 25th of October 2018. During these two days, representatives of NHRIs and Ombudsman Institutions attended this conference on “Ombudsman Institutions and other institutions under threat”.

Conference to commemorate 20th Anniversary of the Ombudsman of the Republic
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of its office, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Moldova invited Ombudsman Institutions, representatives of NHRI’s and public authorities to attend the conference entitled “Evolution and role of national human rights institution in the modern society”. Participants from around the world gathered in Chisinau to discuss the significance of National Human Rights Institutions and their international networks throughout history - and today.
