2017-03-27Ombudsman and Medical Council agreement will benefit the public and health services
On 23 March 2017, the Medical Council and the Office of the Ombudsman signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will allow for the exchange of information and complaints between both offices. The MoU will benefit both the public and health services. The agreement will also establish procedures to assist members of the public in accessing the services of both organisations.

2020-01-08Ombudsman finds that rights of incapacitated individuals are still unduly restricted
A recent study by the Seimas Ombudsmen revealed that after the ongoing review of the incapacity of individuals, there are still more than 1,600 incapacitated individuals in the country, whose rights have so far been unduly restricted. These particularly puzzling findings were presented by the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office in a report.

Last Thursday, 6th of December, the Ombudsman Paul Dubé committed his office to the new responsibilities that were transferred to it under the Restoring Trust, Transparency and Accountability Act, 2018. The CCAC received an in-person report made by a representative of a company wholly-owned by a gaming enterprise, indicating that the executive chef of the food and beverage department of the company had been soliciting bribes from workers for many years and allegedly violated the law and the internal code of conduct of the company. Therefore, the company wanted to pursue his accountability.

The Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Leon Jenkins-Johnston Esq. presented the Ombudsman's Annual Report for 2018 and the first half of 2019 to His Excellency, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio at State House. In 2018, 532 complaints were lodged in his office of which 330 were concluded.
