Annual Report of the European Court of Justice
Since the establishment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in 1952, it constitutes the judicial authority of the European Union and, in cooperation with the courts and tribunals of the Member States, it ensures the uniform application and interpretation of European Union law. The annual report provides a synopsis of the case-law and much statistical information. It is available in all official EU languages.

L’I.I.O. prend l’initiative de promouvoir l’adhésion de l'I.I.O. Amérique du Nord et de souligner l’importance d'être un membre de l’I.I.O. Afin de renforcer l’activité régionale et la visibilité, le Conseil d’administration de l’I.I.O. a accordé une subvention régionale à la région Amérique du Nord pour qu’elle organise un atelier de formation SYT de deux jours avant le Congrès annuel de l’Association des Ombudsmans des États-Unis (USOA) à Jacksonville en Floride (les 24 et 25 octobre 2011).

Free SYT training for I.O.I. members
A regional subvention was granted to the North American region to hold a two-day SYT training workshop in October 2011 prior to the United States Ombudsman Annual (USOA) Conference. The training course will be presented by Ontario Ombudsman André Marin. We record our thanks for his continued support in this way.

Ombudsman publishes Annual Report 2010
This is Emily O’Reilly´s eighth Annual Report as Ombudsman and the twenty-seventh since the Office of the Ombudsman, the first one in the State, was established back in 1984. Complaints made to her Office in 2010 rise to 3,727 - up 30% on 2009, the highest number recorded in over 10 years.

On 22 June 2011, the President of Faso has nominated Alima Déborah Traore as the new Ombudsperson, after her predecessor, Amina Ouedraogo, retired. Alima Traore is an expert in public law and the relations between the public administration and the citizens.

Gertrude Brinek new Chair of the AOB
As of 1 July Ombudswoman Dr. Gertrude Brinek has taken over the chairmanship of the Austrian Ombudsman Board (AOB) from Dr. Peter Kostelka who held the position since July 2010.
