Covering the period from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023, the Annual Report encompasses a broad spectrum of topics. It sheds light on the Chancellor's diverse tasks, including serving as the National Human Rights Institution, Ombudsman for Children, National Preventive Mechanism against ill-treatment, and the supervisor of obligations outlined in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Corruption perception results: NZ must be more open, says Chief Ombudsman
The Chief Ombudsman Peter Boshier says New Zealand must be even more open and direct if it is to improve its ranking as one of the least corrupt countries in the world. The just-released 2023 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index shows New Zealand has slipped to 3rd place on 85 points, after being ranked 2nd equal with Finland on 87 points in 2022.

Defensoría del Pueblo: falta de interés de alcaldes impide funcionamiento de instancias de lucha contra violencia hacia las mujeres en Pasco
Al estar próximos a finalizar el primer mes del año, la oficina de la Defensoría del Pueblo en Pasco exhortó al Gobierno Regional de Pasco a retomar el trabajo de las instancias de concertación de lucha contra la violencia hacia las mujeres e integrantes del grupo familiar. Mediante este pedido, se busca evitar repetir lo ocurrido en el 2023, en que la actividad de estos grupos de trabajo fue mínima, lo que dificultó la reducción de los índices de violencia en esta región.

La CDHCM reconoce que existe un marco normativo adecuado para abordar de manera integral la violencia de género y garantizar la justicia para las personas afectadas por esta problemática; no obstante, aún queda un largo camino para cumplirla a cabalidad y será un desafío mantenerla actualizada con los más altos estándares de derechos humanos que se desarrollan a nivel global.
