Ombudsman hands over the Annual reports of the Ombudsman and NPM to the Speaker of the National Assembly
On 6 June 2024, Human Rights Ombudsman Peter Svetina handed over the 29th regular Annual Report of the Human Rights Ombudsman and the 16th report of the National Preventive Mechanism for 2023 to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, MA, after he had forwarded it to the National Assembly one day prior in accordance with Article 5 of the Human Rights Ombudsman Act. After the meeting, the Ombudsman and the Speaker of the DZ made a public statement.

The Human Rights Defender watched the play "Alice in Wonderland" with the students of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak Province
On June 8, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan paid a working visit to Shirak province. A tour was conducted on the premises of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak province SNCO of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, where children in difficult life situations receive care and support. The Defender got acquainted with the children's living conditions, programs aimed at children's development, and inquired about their daily life.

Malawi's First Ombudsman dies
The Office of the Ombudsman in Malawi on June 2, 2024 woke up to the sad news of the death of the first Ombudsman in the country the Honorable James Makoza Chirwa. Ombudsman Grace Malera and other members of the senior management attended the funeral on behalf of the office where she hailed all the strides that the office registered during the late Chirwa’s tenure.

Le réseau regroupe aujourd'hui 30 institutions de médiateurs et ombudsmans institutionnels ( Etat, Régions, communes, … ) et sectoriels ( assurances, secteur postal, énergie, … ).

El Defensor del Pueblo, Ángel Gabilondo, ha mantenido el martes, el 16 de enero de 2024 un encuentro en la sede de la institución con la ministra de Inclusión, Seguridad Social y Migraciones, Elma Saiz, en el que han abordado, entre otros asuntos, el acceso de la población vulnerable al Ingreso Mínimo Vital, aspectos relacionados con Seguridad Social y la situación migratoria.

La CDHCM se pronuncia en contra de la violencia política y transfeminicida contra mujeres trans en México
Este Organismo Protector de Derechos Humanos observa con preocupación que tan solo en los primeros 15 días del 2024 se han registrado al menos 4 asesinatos de mujeres trans en el país. Lo anterior evidencia la intensificación de la violencia hacia las mujeres en razón de identidad de género, pues fueron víctimas de la más grave expresión de odio contra ellas: el transfeminicidio.

Access to justice for asylum seekers and refugees: a call for help from IOI members
The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) is delighted to announce the launch of a collaborative research project examining the role of ombudspersons in the protection of refugees and asylum seekers (the OPRAS project). In order to carry out the OPRAS project the University of Glasgow has received funding from the British Academy and is being carried out in collaboration with Professor Chris Gill.

Ten students of Hamdard University became Brand Ambassadors for the Sindh Ombudsman Office
Honourable Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput, chaired a workshop held on 29 May 2024 at Hamdard University, Karachi. Honorable Ombudsman Sindh addressed the large number of students and highlighted the key features of the Brand Ambassador Program, initiated through a regional subsidy of the IOI, with aims and objectives to disseminate the information about the role of the Ombudsman, promote civic responsibilities and to raise community outreach through students being inspiring future leaders.

DPU guarantees provisional measures to Tapeba indigenous people in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, based in Washington, accepted the request for provisional measures from the Federal Public Defenders' Office to guarantee the rights of the Tapeba indigenous people of Caucaia, a municipality in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará. Resolution 28/2024, issued on 9 May 2024, requires the Brazilian State to adopt necessary measures to protect the life and personal integrity of members of this people.

Defensoría del Pueblo: a dos años de derrame de petróleo frente al mar peruano, aún no se da inicio a etapa de rehabilitación ambiental
Al cumplirse, el lunes 15 de enero de 2024, dos años del derrame de cerca de once mil barriles de petróleo frente al mar de Ventanilla, la Defensoría del Pueblo exhortó al Poder Ejecutivo a continuar las acciones de evaluación y supervisión ambiental y sanitaria e invocó a las autoridades de los sectores involucrados a atender los resultados de las mismas, para la toma de decisiones orientadas a garantizar los derechos de la población que se vio afectada.
