L’ombudsman de Montréal, Me Nadine Mailloux, a déposé le 17 juin 2024 au conseil municipal son rapport d’activités pour l’année 2023. Ce 20e rapport annuel du Bureau fait état de 2 223 dossiers traités, incluant 215 nouvelles enquêtes sur des sujets très variés, dont 47 lancées à l’initiative de l’OdM. The investigation emanates from the administrative challenges faced by the public, particularly women and children, in the South African criminal justice system identified by the Public Protector.

La Defensora del Pueblo de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, María Rosa Muiños, encabezó una reunión con representantes de organizaciones que trabajan por los derechos de las personas con discapacidad ante la posible eliminación del nomenclador del sistema de prestaciones básicas por parte del Gobierno Nacional. Los representantes expresaron su preocupación por la medida que permitiría que cada financiador establezca sus propios aranceles, en lugar de acordarlos en el Directorio de Prestaciones Básicas para todos los financiadores del Sistema.

2024-06-13El Síndic pide a la Generalitat que revise la fecha de alta en la Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social de sus trabajadores
La institución del Síndic de Greuges ha tenido conocimiento de anomalías en las fechas de cotización de la vida laboral de empleados públicos de la Generalitat. A partir del análisis de las quejas recibidas, la institución ha constatado un decalaje temporal entre la fecha de inicio de la prestación de servicios en la Administración de la Generalitat y la fecha de alta en la Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social. La demora en el alta tiene efectos en las prestaciones del sistema, dado que reduce el período de cotización para la jubilación.

2024-06-13Ombudsman hands over the Annual reports of the Ombudsman and NPM to the Speaker of the National Assembly
On 6 June 2024, Human Rights Ombudsman Peter Svetina handed over the 29th regular Annual Report of the Human Rights Ombudsman and the 16th report of the National Preventive Mechanism for 2023 to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, MA, after he had forwarded it to the National Assembly one day prior in accordance with Article 5 of the Human Rights Ombudsman Act. After the meeting, the Ombudsman and the Speaker of the DZ made a public statement.

On June 8, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Anahit Manasyan paid a working visit to Shirak province. A tour was conducted on the premises of the Child and Family Support Center of Shirak province SNCO of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, where children in difficult life situations receive care and support. The Defender got acquainted with the children's living conditions, programs aimed at children's development, and inquired about their daily life.

The Office of the Ombudsman in Malawi on June 2, 2024 woke up to the sad news of the death of the first Ombudsman in the country the Honorable James Makoza Chirwa. Ombudsman Grace Malera and other members of the senior management attended the funeral on behalf of the office where she hailed all the strides that the office registered during the late Chirwa’s tenure.

Honorable Ombudsman Sindh addressed the large number of students and highlighted the key features of the Brand Ambassador Program, initiated through a regional subsidy of the IOI, with aims and objectives to disseminate the information about the role of the Ombudsman, promote civic responsibilities and to raise community outreach through students being inspiring future leaders.

2024-06-06DPU guarantees provisional measures to Tapeba indigenous people in the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, based in Washington, accepted the request for provisional measures from the Federal Public Defenders' Office to guarantee the rights of the Tapeba indigenous people of Caucaia, a municipality in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza, in the state of Ceará. Resolution 28/2024, issued on 9 May 2024, requires the Brazilian State to adopt necessary measures to protect the life and personal integrity of members of this people.

On 29 and 30 May 2024, the national and regional ombudsinstitutions of Benelux had their annual meeting in Luxembourg. The latest developments in the Benelux were discussed but the main topic that they focused on was the right to err.
