    Supreme Court Judge elected as new Ombudsman

    In 2014 the Norwegian Parliament elected Supreme Court Judge Aage Thor Falkanger as ombudsman for the current parliamentary term (4 years). Flakanger is the fifth ombudsman to be appointed since 1962; he succeeds former Parliamentary Ombudsman Arne Fliflet who left office mid-June 2014.

    The Ombudsman Bureau of St. Maarten, headed by Nilda Arduin, has been elected Person of the Year 2013 by the Daily Herald newspaper. The Ombudsman Bureau presented several political decisions that were deemed not to conform with Constitutional Law.

    The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) published a report underlining how victims of data protection violations, brought on by the widespread use of information and communication technologies, seek redress.
