This is Emily O’Reilly´s eighth Annual Report as Ombudsman and the twenty-seventh since the Office of the Ombudsman, the first one in the State, was established back in 1984. Complaints made to her Office in 2010 rise to 3,727 - up 30% on 2009, the highest number recorded in over 10 years.

Mr Lars Lindström took office on 1 June 2011 as Parliamentary Ombudsman of Sweden. He joins the team of Ms Cecilia Nordenfelt, who took office as Chief Parliamentary Ombudsman of Sweden on 3 January 2011.

Le Défenseur des droits est une autorité administrative indépendante, inscrite dans la Constitution depuis le 23 juillet 2008 et instituée par la loi organique et la loi ordinaire du 29 mars 2011. Cette institution nouvellement créée succède au Médiateur de la République, au Défenseur des enfants, à la Haute autorité de lutte contre les discriminations et pour l'égalité (HALDE) ainsi qu'à la Commission nationale de déontologie de la sécurité (CNDS).

2011-06-29New Ombudsman Act
In accordance with the Fundamental Law of Hungary (accepted in April, 2011) the new Act on the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights will create a unified ombudsman system. The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights shall be nominated by the President of the Republic and elected by Parliament to carry out activities guaranteeing the protection of fundamental rights.
