La médiation transfrontalière
LeMédiateur de la Wallonie et de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, l’Ombudsman du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg, et le Délégué général à la médiation avec les services publics par la Défenseure des droits de France, se sont entretenus en visioconférence autour des problématiques transfrontalières rencontrées dans le cadre du traitement de réclamations des ressortissants belges, luxembourgeois et français.

El Procurador del Común de Castilla y León tramita 6.341 expedientes en 2020
León, Burgos y Palencia acumulan el mayor número de reclamaciones. Sanidad, educación y familia son las áreas donde existe un mayor número de quejas. Se han tramitado 1.771 quejas directamente relacionadas con la Covid-19. Aumentan las actuaciones de oficio hasta alcanzar los 94 expedientes, de los que 36 están relacionados con la pandemia.

Homelessness “own initiative” investigation launched
The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales has launched an ‘own initiative’ investigation into the administration of the homelessness review process by local authorities in Wales. The investigation will focus on three local authorities – Cardiff Council, Carmarthenshire County Council and Wrexham County Borough Council.

On 12 January 2021 the Austrian Ombudsman Board, in close cooperation with the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) organized an online exchange to shine light on human rights protection in Austria in times of Covid-19 and to discuss how to strengthen the independence of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs).

Ombudsman Hong Kong announces launch of two direct investigations
On 14 January 2021, the Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced the launch of two direct investigations: one to examine the effectiveness of rodent prevention and control by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) and another to examine the Government’s regulation of boarding facilities for foreign domestic helpers (FDHs).

Federal Ombudsman received highest ever number of complaints in 2020
The Federal Ombudsman Syed Tahir Shahbaz has said that his office received the highest ever number of complaints during 2020 as 133,521 complaints and disposed of 130,112 complaints. He said that this was the result of its robust awareness campaign launched in the entire country especially in the far flung areas of Pakistan.

Reporte de Conflictos Sociales informa sobre 183 protestas durante el mes de diciembre 2020
La Defensoría del Pueblo presentó el Reporte de Conflictos Sociales N° 202, correspondiente al mes de diciembre de 2020, el cual da cuenta -entre otros aspectos- de 197 conflictos sociales registrados (146 activos y 51 latentes). El documento informa también sobre 183 acciones colectivas de protesta, el 18 % de ellas estuvieron relacionadas a conflictos sociales.
