The Ombudsman Institution of Turkey was pleased to have successfully hosted the “2nd Istanbul International Ombudsman Conference”, which took place from 18 – 19 November 2019 in Istanbul, Turkey, which brought together around 150 participants from 57 countries of different continents, representing various national and international Ombudsman institutions as well as Human Rights Commissions.

These highlights start with the 50th birthday of the Québec Ombudsman, which the institution celebrated on 1 May 2019. Ces organisations veillent à l’intégrité et à la protection des lanceurs d’alerte de la fonction publique dans leur pays. Elles font partie du réseau NEIWA, pour Network of European Integrity and Whistleblowing Authorities.

The first ever International Ombud Expo 2019 was hosted by the Public Complaint Commissioner of Nigeria at Abuja from 28-31 October, 2019. The Provincial Ombudsman Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Aqal Badshah Khattak, was invited as Lead Speaker for the event.

Dr. jur. Niels Fenger has been elected new Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman
The Danish Parliament, Folketinget, has elected Dr. jur. Niels Fenger as new Parliamentary Ombudsman. He will succeed Mr. Jørgen Steen Sørensen who has taken up an appointment as a Justice of the Danish Supreme Court.
