2020-11-26UN resolution on the role of the Ombudsman
The International Ombudsman Institute is very happy to report that the UN resolution on the role of the Ombudsman (A/RES/72/186) was adopted by consensus on 19 November 2020 and that the final version of the resolution is due to be adopted by the UN General Assembly before the end of the year.

2024-02-08Malawi President assents to Ombudsman Amendment Bill
The President of the Republic of Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera, has assented to the Ombudsman Amendment Bill, effective 1 February 2024. Ombudsman Grace Malera hailed the Malawi Leader for signing the Bill into law which among other things provides clarity on the broadened mandate of the Office in terms of which organs of government can be investigated.

2024-02-08UK Parliamentary Ombudsman visit to Malta
The UK’s Parliamentary Ombudsman and Health Service Ombudsman for England, Mr Rob Behrens, CBE, is visiting Malta at the invitation of the Malta Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon. He will deliver a Thematic Lecture titled ‘The Parliamentary Ombudsman Experience: Reflections on the Past and Present. Looking to the Future.’

2020-11-23Prisons and prisoners in Europe in pandemic times
During the month of March 2020, most European countries introduced lockdowns of their populations to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Such measures can have an impact on the extent of crime and, indirectly, on the size of prison populations. In order to measure the side-effects of the pandemic on the prison populations the Council of Europe and the University of Lausanne launched the SPACE I – COVID-19 project to follow closely the effects of the pandemic on prisons, inmates and probationers across Europe.

The theme of the forum was "Preventing business-related human rights abuses: The key to a sustainable future for people and planet".

The IOI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Alliance for Ministries and Infrastructure for Peace (GAMIP) to strengthen the cooperation and foster the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the field of building a culture of peace.

2020-11-20First Remote Media Training held
On 19 November 2020, the IOI successfully held its first session of the IOI Remote Media Training. The interest in this training was enormous and participants from all six IOI world regions applied. In this first training session, a total of 18 persons from 18 different Ombudsman institutions from all corners of the globe took part in this high-end media training.

La semaine internationale de sensibilisation à la fraude est une initiative de l’ACFE, la plus grande association mondiale rassemblant plus de 85 000 professionnels de la lutte contre la fraude et dont le Centre Intégrité du Médiateur fédéral est membre. L’ACFE souhaite diminuer l'impact de la fraude dans les entreprises et les services publics par la prévention et la sensibilisation.
