Ombudsman New South Wales releases Annual Report 2013/2014
While statistics do not provide a full picture of the Ombudsman’s work, they do show that the office continues to deal with a large number of matters. This year, the Ombudsman received 35,456 complaints and notifications.

New Powers for Public Services Ombudsman for Wales
From 1 November 2014, the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales’s jurisdiction changed. This is as a result of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. He now has an extended role in relation to care homes, domiciliary care and palliative care services.

Ombudsman orders transfer of family pension in favour of the complainant
A complainant approached the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Mr. Asad Ashraf Malik, for transfer of Family Pension in the complainant's name. Ombudsman Sindh issued directives to the authorities concerned to initiate an enquiry into the case.

Dame Beverley Wakem resigns as IOI President
At the 2014 meeting of the IOI Board of Directors, Dame Beverley A. Wakem resigned from her office as IOI President. Dame Beverley, whose term as Chief Ombudsman of New Zealand will end next year, took the occasion of the Vienna Board Meeting to bid farewell to her fellow members on the Board and hand the Presidency over to Adv. John R. Walters, Ombudsman of Namibia.

While it is difficult to calculate how many people are victims, this paper outlines different actions to address this particular form of gender-based violence.

Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman publishes summary of investigations
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has published 161 summaries of investigations it carried out between April and June this year. The Ombudsman Service investigates complaints about the NHS in England and UK government departments and their agencies, such as the Child Maintenance Service and the DVLA. The published summaries include 35 governmental cases and 126 are healthcare.

Memorandum of Understanding with ILO
On the occasion of the annual meeting of the IOI Board of Directors in Vienna in October 2014, IOI President Dame Beverley Wakem and the President of the Institute of Latin-American Ombudsman, Dr. Carlos Constenla, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
