Currently, Hungary is not yet party to the Optional Protocol to the 30-year-old Convention on the Rights of the Child on a Communications Procedure. It is thus a significant development that upon Commissioner for Fundamental Rights László Székely’s appeal, the Minister of State for Family and Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Human Capacities has indicated: they have begun to prepare the decision necessary for Hungary’s joining the optional protocol.

Ombudsman publishes Annual Report 2018
In 2018, the Ombudsman's Office received a total of 48,129 requests through the various channels available to citizens, including 36,111 entries of complaints and other communications. During the year, 9338 new procedures were instituted, five of them from the Ombudsman's initiative, which translates into an increase in the handling of complaints of 20% over the previous year.

On the occasion of the June 1-International Day for Protection of Children the Azerbaijani Ombudsman held a series of events and met with children in the Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Down syndrome within the Human Rights Month and expressed her best wishes to them.

Présentation de la restitution des travaux d’audit du système intégré de gestion des réclamations
Le Médiateur de la République, le magistrat Joseph H. Gnonlonfoun est toujours préoccupé par rapport à la gestion des recours citoyens. A cet effet, il a demandé un audit de la base des données du Système intégré de gestion des réclamations (SIGR). La séance de restitution des travaux de cet audit a eu lieu le mercredi 29 mai 2019 au siège de l’Institution à Porto-Novo.

The 10th Biennial Caribbean Ombudsman Association (CAROA) Conference concluded on Wednesday at the Fairmont Southampton Resort in Bermuda. This handbook is a practice-oriented sequel of the “Cities Free of Rumours” Guide published in 2015 by the Council of Europe. The lessons learned in recent years coupled with the growth in the number of cities that have joined the ARS and the interest it has generated since then, call for an update and further systematization of the antirumours approach and methodology. The handbook also provides practical examples to help and inspire cities and other stakeholders interested in learning more about this initiative and how to put it into practice.
