The IOI is pleased to share the research study on "Issues of Girls' Education in Sindh" conducted on the initiative of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh in collaboration with Sindh Education Foundation (SEF). The study, which was published in December 2020, has been supported by the IOI's Regional Subsidies programme.

The public can now bring complaints about private nursing homes to Ombudsman Peter Tyndall. From 24 August 2015 the Ombudsman has had his powers extended so that he can independently examine complaints about private nursing homes in receipt of public funding under subvention or through the Nursing Home Support Scheme (also known as ‘Fair Deal’).

2021-06-14Northern Ireland Ombudsman proposes new complaints handling standards for public bodies
The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman, Margaret Kelly, has today called for a culture change in the way public bodies in Northern Ireland deal with complaints from members of the public. Her comments came as a new survey showed two thirds of people who were dissatisfied with the level of service from a public body said they would not complain as they thought it would make no difference or be too trivial.

2015-09-08The Constitutional Court repealed the provisions of the Mental Health Act at the Ombudsman’s request
The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia repealed a part of the Mental Health Act at its session on 10 June 2015. The third sentence of the second paragraph of Article 74 is repealed, namely the provision defining that on behalf of a person who has been deprived of their capacity to conclude contracts, consent for admission to a secure ward is given by a legal representative. It also repealed the third sentence of the third paragraph of Article 74 of this Act, i.e. the provision regulating that only the legal representative of the person in a secure ward may withdraw such consent at any time or request that the person be released from the ward.
